Fats and Protein: Rice bran contains up to 23 percent bran oil, which produces a high-quality vegetable oil that is excellent for cooking.

A half cup of crude rice bran provides 21 grams of total fat, or 32 percent of the daily value allowed for a 2,000 calorie diet.

Most of the fat in rice bran is monounsaturated or polyunsaturated -- fats that do not raise low-density lipoproteins, or "bad," cholesterol in your blood. In fact, unsaturated fats may even lower LDL cholesterol if included in a low-saturated fat diet.
